Michael Cheerva received his license to practice law in 1985. He began his career as a deputy prosecutor with the Marion County Prosecutor's Office handling child support matters. In 1987 he became a family law practitioner with Rucker & Cheerva. He joined the law firm of Phelps & Fara in 1990 as an associate where he limited his practice exclusively to family law. Currently, a partner in the law firm of Avery & Cheerva LLP, Mr. Cheerva has been selected as an Indiana Super Lawyer since 2005 for his work in the family law area and was certified as a Family Law Specialist in 2007. Mr. Cheerva has honed his skills in the area of Family Law Appellate Practice for over 20 years and has participated in oral argument before both the Indiana Supreme Court and Indiana Court of Appeals on many occasions.
